Happy Birthday 13th Birthday Adam!!!

13 years ago to we became a family of four with the birth of Adam Walker Lowell. Sometimes that seems like it just happened...how could it have been that long ago.

Adam has accomplished so many things this year and is growing into a man. He's passed me in height and the last time my parents we over he discovered he was also taller than my Dad. He has finished his first semester in Junior High and done fantastic. He was confirmed into the Methodist church and he's become a part of the youth group at church. He teaches the preschool class at church each Saturday night. Adam seems to balance all that with his family and sports commitments without a problem. He has picked up the guitar in the past year and he received an electric guitar this morning. (I'm listening to him play it right now and he's good! Not at all like those first few months he played the bass :)He can out-text the best of us and we look forward (not) to the "responsive reading" every time the phone bill arrives in our mailbox. He can still make me laugh easier than anyone else in this house.

We love you, Adam! Happy Birthday!!!!!

Facebook Craze

Are you on Facebook? It all started for me over a year ago when someone suggested that I sign up and I did. Then for several months I didn't use it.

This summer Clayton and Adam came home from camp talking about this great website that was better than My Space. They quickly got signed on and started connecting with their friends. Clayton came into the kitchen and said, "MOM! Someone set up a Facebook account with your picture!" He was shocked when I told him that it was his old, boring Mom who had set up that page! :)

And now in the past 8 months I've really started to enjoy it and it's become a great way for me to stay in touch with all kinds of people. My best friends, neighbors, my first friend ever and neighbors from the early 70's, friends from the 80's, tons of sorority sisters who I hadn't heard from since leaving SMU, a dear friend from our building in Manila and another friend who I spent the weekend with in Hong Kong. There are friends from church here, our church in Illinois and our church in Plano, groomsmen and bridesmaids from our wedding, friends of the boys and even parents of my friends.

I ran across the following blog and it actually made me laugh out loud. If you are a Facebooker, I hope you enjoy it! http://suburbanturmoil.blogspot.com/2009/02/saving-facebook.html
