When Am I Going to Die?

“Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”John 15:13
As a missionary among the Motilones, a native people in the jungles of South America, I had been encouraged by their sincerity during a river baptism ceremony. A few months later, I visited a Colombian hospital with Jorge Kaymiyokba, one of the Motilones at the baptism. We learned that a Motilone woman there had just given birth and lost much blood. She needed an immediate transfusion.
The doctor knew that all Motilones share the same blood type. “It’s a good thing you brought a Motilone,” he said to me in Spanish. “I’ll start preparations for taking his blood.” When I translated the doctor’s words, Kaymiyokba’s face paled. “No, you’re not going to do that,” he said.“Kaymiyokba, if you don’t give your blood, this woman will die,” I said. “I can’t do it. I have a different blood type.”
Kaymiyokba put his head down. “I don’t want to,” he said. “I can’t! I have too many things to do in this life.” I didn’t understand his selfish attitude. Kaymiyokba sat down. Finally, he said in a somber voice, “All right. I will give my blood.”
Soon, Kaymiyokba was watching with a strange mixture of sadness and contentment as a nurse plunged a needle into his arm and began extracting his blood. Then he looked up. “Tell me,” he said, “when am I going to die?”Suddenly I understood Kaymiyokba’s reluctance—he thought I wanted him to give his life!
Incredibly, in a matter of minutes, he had made the decision to sacrifice himself so that another could live. I realized then that his decision at the river was not mere lip service. He intended to follow the example of Christ with all his heart and mind, no matter what the cost. I prayed then, and continue to pray, that all of us are as willing to give everything for the love and joy offered by Jesus. -Bruce Olsson
Bruce Olsson left his university studies at the age of 19 in search of the feared Motilone Indians of Colombia, because he believed God was sending him to tell them about Christ. Half a century later, the lives of the Motilone people have been transformed by Christ’s power and love. Read his fascinating biography, Bruchko, for more.

Clayton's Team WON!!!

Clayton's first game for his Junior High was this week. They won 13-0 and it was a really good game. Lots of firsts.....

First time to ride the bus to a game and ride it back to the school afterwards! We picked him up at the school after showers.....can I be old enough for this??????

First time for us to watch our baby play football from stadium stands. (It much easier on the sideline with the girls....this may take some figuring out!)

First time one of our children has played for a coach and with kids we don't know. (Usually we've had weeks of practice to get to know the coach and parents of the other kids. Since they practice before and during school now, that's not the case. We are really fortunate though because this team is made up of GREAT kids. There are quite a few families who we know previous teams or from church. It's going to be a fun year!)

Post Game.....sweaty but happy! Clayton is the tall one, right in the middle.

TITANS Football For Adam

Adam has had two great games so far in his TITANS season. In the first game the Titans shut out the Panthers 33-0. Adam had an amazing interception and catch! He had several great blocks, as well, knocking many boys much bigger than him to the ground.

Game two was closer but the Titans were victorious! Although none of us can remember the final score, they were up by at least two touchdowns. Adam is the holder for all extra point kick attempts.....three tries on Saturday and three successes! In our league, a successful kick is 3 points....it's really hard at this age. He had a great kickoff return and almost broke through the tackle......almost a touchdown return! It was a great game.

Clayton's first game is tonight....I'll have a recap tomorrow sometime. He's excited.....I'm nervous. He's riding the bus with the team to another town.....I'm trying to not go too early and look like psycho mom! (My prayer tonight is "Lord, please keep him safe. Help him play his best be an example to those around him! AND please help the girls be good so we can enjoy the game!!!!!")

Until tomorrow.....

SOCCER!!!!!

Emma started soccer this week. After being there about 10 minutes, she ran over and said "I'm hot and tired. It is too hot to run!" Very dramatic. We had to have a little chat about staying out there on the field. She loved it in the end and did very well. We found out, once we got to practice, that the YMCA had put her in the older age group....we had quite a chuckle. We allowed Clayton to play up in Lacrosse and now his sister is playing up the first time she plays anything!

Her first game is this Saturday! We can't wait!

Football for the boys has started! Clayton is getting up by 5:45 so that he and Steve can leave the house no later than 6:10. Adam has practice 3 nights a week from 6-8. That makes early mornings and late nights.

The other night Clayton was working on his homework in the dining room and it got very quiet. We both called into him to ask him a question and there was no response. I when I got up and walked in there, he was asleep!!!! I had to get the camera!

He found out Monday that he's on the A team for his school. Their first game is on Monday night and he can't wait!

Adam's first game was this past Saturday. The Titans won 33-0 and Adam had an amazing interception and some fantastic blocks!

The girls both have Titans cheerleading uniforms and love cheering for their brothers!

Play Ball!
Emma's birthday party was a couple of weeks ago and we had a blast! Our church has this great indoor playground, called The Safari Stop. I remember hearing that they were building it with our last capital campaign and thought, "what in the world are they doing that for?" Never would I have thought that we'd be having a Lowell birthday party there!

The first half of the party was in the playground and the second half was in The Creation Station. We ate pizza, cake and opened presents!

Listen!
Can you hear it?
No?
Well that's because it's SILENCE!!!!!
There is silence in the Lowell home!
Silence for just 4 hours and then it's back to the way I usually like it.....crazy!
But right now I'm in Heavan!
I'm folding laundry....
it's quiet and there are no other messes being made while I'm doing this!
I'll blog about all the other goings on later today!

Happy Birthday Emma

We celebrated Emma's 4th birthday today....she's so grown up! I remember when we found out she was on her way....we were all in shock. It took so long for us to get pregnant and we weren't quite sure what to expect. I got Fifth Disease at 20 weeks and spent four days in the hospital. After they kept me in isolation for four days, they finally figured out what I had and let me go. I had to go see a high risk OB immediately and had special sonograms every week for 8 weeks. We have more sonograms pictures of Emma than of the other three put together.
The first high risk sonogram we had was the time we could find out the sex. The boys were with us and once we found out that she was healthy and looking good we asked that she look "down there" and see if it was a brother or a sister for the boys. When she said, "looks like a girl", none of us could believe. I made her check every week when I went in for my sonogram.
Emma was the only one of our children to be born outside of Texas. The boys were really worried about it. My OB-GYN was a Texas and we had a Texas flag in the delivery room.....surely that counts!!!!

BOWS!!!!! Finally, we get to play with BOWS!!! I was induced at 8 a.m. and Emma was born right after 11 in the morning. She did get stuck and broke her collar bone. Even with that she was a great baby.
