The Senior Titans Won the Superbowl!

Adam has been playing on the Senior Titans for the last 3 1/2 months and it's been a great team. Not only have they had a winning season, but the team is made up of great kids with great families. You don't always get that when your kids' on a team. Great kids, great families, great coaches this year!


They ended the season undefeated. No senior team had ever done that AND won the Super Bowl! The TITANS did it! They were perfect.....they were a team in the true sense of the word. They all respected each other, the parents AND the coaches. They won like true gentlemen.


One of our coaches led the team in a prayer before and after each game. He said they were giving thanks to "the Man!" What a great example to a bunch of 6th and 7th graders. Sports and football will not be there forever, but their faith will!


I was so fortunate to be able to be the team mom for the Senior Titans. This allowed me to get to know the boys better and each one of the parents. It wasn't always easy and I spend HOURS of time at practice and getting things organized. But it was so fun! A HUGE THANK YOU goes to Steve for totally taking care of both girls at all the games so that I could be on the field and help with the game. I could not have done this without his selfless help!

Adam had the best game of his life. He caught an amazing pass and ran it in for a touchdown. I don't know who was jumping up and down more....Adam or us! I actually broke a cowbell ringing it so hard. After the game people told him over and over what a great game it was! He had a ball!!!

Audrey Visits Dr. Andersen!

Audrey visited the dentist last week for the first time! She did fantastic. When we first went back into the office the hygienist told me that they would not be able to clean her teeth but they would try to "count" her teeth and just show her how all the equipment worked. She hopped right up in the chair and opened her mouth.

Dr. Andersen came in and looked at her teeth. He said, "I believe Audrey would like us to tickle her teeth"....and they began cleaning them. She didn't fuss one time!

Her treat at the end of the appointment was a cool sticker, a toothbrush and a great pair of sunglasses! Way to go, Audrey!

Go Highlanders!

Clayton got to play in the drum line at The Woodlands High School Football game last weekend. He did a great job and really seemed to be having a fun time. He did say it's hard to watch the game when he's playing, though. A true sports fan!!!!!

Emma's Soccer Trophy

Emma finished her soccer season last week with a team party at Pump It Up! The kids had a ball playing and jumping and then the real fun began......the trophies! She was SO EXCITED and couldn't wipe the smile off her face listening to Coach Tim tell everyone how proud he was of her.

Coach Tim was such a great coach....very laid back and super encouraging. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan, which worked in his favor, as well.

Emma had a great season and has her first trophy now. She keeps it on her bedside table and has already taken it to school for show and tell. Way to go, Emma!

Perfect Isn't Perfect

Not long ago I read an interview with Sara Blakely, who invented SPANX and is, in my opinion, the only living Saint! She talked about how she was encouraged to fail by her Dad when she was younger.

....my father used to ask my brother and me what we had failed at recently and then congratulate us. He did complete reverse psychology on us. Failure was something we sought out and not this scary thing. I think many people are debilitated by the fear of failure, so he gave us a real gift.

She went on to tell about how many times people told her NO when she was trying to get SPANX off the ground. She wasn't afraid of the failure....it just egged her on.

This morning another Kelly Corrigan (article arrived in my mailbox and it was about the same thing......Inviting Failure! http://www.kellycorrigan.com/. (Go read this.....it's short and FANTASTIC!)

It's funny because I've struggled with wanting my kids to be perfect....wanting them to have perfect grades, perfect behavior, perfect appearance. At first I thought I was helping them. Helping them by making them strive to be their best. But it's not the case. If they are always perfect, they don't know how to fail. When they finally do fail, and they will, it's the end of the world!

It's a whole lot easier to fail when you are 5 and learn how it feels and how to respond to it, than to have to experience it when you are 15 or 20.

I still expect my kids to do their best and try their hardest but they are human and are going to fail sometimes and it's not the end of the world. They aren't perfect......I'm not either. It really is a freeing feeling!

Happy Halloween

So much has happened in the Lowell home since my last post! Busy, busy, busy!!!!!
Halloween!!!!!
What a fun night! Our neighbors, The Gustafsons, had a fun potluck Halloween party right before everyone headed out to trick or treat! There were TONS of kids there, as you can see in the picture! We have such a great neighborhood

Clayton missed most of the festivities because he was in the annual Red-Green parade with the High School. After the parade he got to go The Woodlands High School Pep Rally and had a ball. Adam helped us by staying home and being "chief candy giver outer"! Every time we walked past our home, the porch as full of kids....mostly older ones who were friends of Adam's.

Emma and Audrey were both beautiful......and although they looked like princesses, they were actually dressed as their favorite book character, Fancy Nancy. Both of them had really figured out the whole "knock on the door and have someone just GIVE you candy for NO REASON!" It was very cute!
